Wire a sensor. Describe a rule.
Probe makes it run.

Probe is an assistant for hardware bring-up. Just talk to it: it takes you from plugging in a sensor to live data, tests, and rules that run on the device itself.

Probe · live monitor
The Probe app showing a temperature, humidity and pressure sensor streaming live charts, with an accelerometer, a relay board and a tilt rule in the project

A real session: temperature, humidity and pressure streaming live from a sensor on the bench.

How it works

From cable to automation in one conversation

Each component goes through the same steps, and Probe checks every one before moving on.

01 · Connect

Plug it in where Probe shows you

Tell Probe what you're connecting. It points to the right port, draws the cable going in, and confirms the sensor's data is actually arriving, so nothing moves on until the wiring is right.

Connection card: a drawing of the Probe enclosure with the sensor cable going into port U2, and a note that its data is already arriving
02 · Configure

Live data, straight away

Probe applies the right settings and starts streaming. Every reading is charted live, with the current value, minimum and maximum, and a table view when you want the numbers.

Live charts of acceleration, angular rate and roll, pitch and yaw from a motion sensor
03 · Test

Guided tests with a clear pass or fail

Probe runs a test plan for each component, explaining each step. For an output board it clicks every relay in turn and reads it back. Afterwards you can switch any channel by hand and give it a name.

04 · Automate

Rules in plain words, running on the device

Say what should happen. Probe turns it into an exact rule, sends it to the probe cube and proves it works.

  1. 1

    You say it

"If the accelerometer tilts more than 30 degrees, turn relay 5 on."

  2. 2

    Probe makes it precise

It names the exact measurement and adds a small dead band ("off again below 28°") so the relay doesn't chatter at the threshold. You confirm with one tap.

Rule · from the demo
Chat: the user writes 'If the accelerometer tilts more than 30 degrees, turn relay 5 on'; Probe replies with a rule card: when the tilt from flat goes above 30 degrees, turn on relay 5, off again below 28 degrees; the user confirms with Yes
  1. 3

It runs on the probe cube, tested

The rule is saved to the device's flash. Probe then trips it once on purpose and checks the relay really switched. After that the rule keeps running on its own, with or without the app.

Examples

One sentence each

The kind of rules you can describe to Probe today. Each switches a relay, which can drive a fan, a pump, a light or a cut-off.

Machine safety

"If the machine tilts more than 30°, trip the motor cut-off."

Tilt > 30°→Cut-off relay

Greenhouse

"If it gets warmer than 30 °C, turn the fan on."

Temperature > 30 °C→Fan

Storage room

"If humidity goes above 70 %, switch on the dehumidifier."

Humidity > 70 %→Dehumidifier

Shipping & handling

"If the box is spun faster than 100 °/s, latch the alarm on."

Rotation > 100 °/s→Alarm, latched

Cold room

"If the temperature drops below 2 °C, turn the heater on."

Temperature < 2 °C→Heater

Field station

"If the pressure falls below 1000 hPa, light the storm warning."

Pressure < 1000 hPa→Warning light

The whole picture

Every sensor, output and rule in one project

Projects keep everything you brought up, so you can reopen them, replay what happened and carry on later.

Try Probe on your bench

Probe is in early alpha. We're looking for a few teams to try it with their own hardware and tell us what's missing.
